Retinol peeling

Do you sometimes feel like your skin could do with a reboot? A retinol peel is one of the most effective ways to combat pigmentation disorders and skin ageing. Give your skin a new glow – gently and sustainably.

  • Visible skin rejuvenation: Retinol actively intervenes in skin ageing processes.
This is why it is one of the big players in anti-ageing skin care.

  • Even skin tone: Retinol peels help you to achieve a more even, radiant skin tone by reducing pigmentation such as age and pigmentation spots.

Why a retinol peel is so effective

You will no doubt have noticed: There is no way around retinol in anti-ageing skincare today. And quite rightly so, as retinol acts like a Swiss army knife to combat various skin problems caused by environmental influences and natural skin ageing. But what is retinol actually? Colloquially known as “vitamin A”, retinol plays a key role in numerous bodily processes.

For example, in cell renewal: retinol stimulates skin cells to divide faster, which strengthens the protective top layer of skin, the epidermis. More replenishment from below also means that more horny cells are shed from above – and with them annoying pigment spots.

Retinol and its effect on deeper skin layers

However, retinol not only acts on the surface, but can also penetrate into deeper areas of your skin due to its small molecule size – to the collagen fibers, which unfortunately often wear out in the course of life. Retinol now inhibits the breakdown of collagen on the one hand and intensively stimulates the formation of new collagen fibers on the other.
The result is firmer, rejuvenated skin.

As a bonus, retinol also neutralizes harmful free oxygen radicals that attack healthy skin structures and has an anti-inflammatory effect. And did you know: Inflammation is not only the driving force behind acne, it also causes your skin to age more quickly – science refers to this as “inflamm-aging” (“inflammation” = inflammation, “aging” = ageing).

Which skin problems can be improved with a retinol peel?

We recommend the retinol peeling especially for the following skin problems:

  • Pigmentation disorders such as age spots can be alleviated very well with retinol.
This also includes melasma: skin changes caused by hormonal influences such as pregnancy or the pill.
  • Sun-damaged skin, which tends to be blotchy, wrinkled and calloused, can be visibly rejuvenated with retinol peels.
  • Superficial wrinkles and lines are reduced.
However, you should not expect a deep tightening effect as with a thread lift.
  • Acne and acne scars also generally respond to retinol.
Depending on the severity and your age, we may recommend a fruit acid peel as an alternative for acne.
In the case of acne scars, TCA peels – possibly combined with microneedling – can often achieve an even better effect.

What distinguishes a retinol peel from other medical peels?

In addition to retinol peelings, fruit acid peelings and TCA peelings also count as medical peelings. The difference lies in the acid used: With the fruit acid peel we use alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) such as glycolic acid, which have a slightly more superficial effect than retinol. Fruit acid peels effectively reduce blemishes and acne.

TCA peels use trichloroacetic acid, which – depending on the concentration – has a stronger exfoliating effect than retinol. This powerful effect is particularly desirable when removing acne scars. However, the penetrating power of TCA also comes at a price: for a few days, the skin becomes unattractively discolored and flakes off considerably. With retinol peeling, there is usually no flaking and only mild flaking.

Retinol peeling: What does the treatment process look like at GoAesthetic?

  • Appointment

Simply arrange a consultation or book your treatment directly online.
You can find all possible appointments online in our calendar or give us a call.

  • Consultation

You tell us about your wishes and we will see whether the treatment suits your skin and your wishes. We also talk about your skin care between peels, which is necessary for better treatment results.

  • Treatment

After thoroughly cleansing the skin, we apply the retinol peeling.
The peeling is only neutralized at home after 4-8 hours.
Over the next few days, it is important for the success of the treatment to use the skin care products – also to minimize the risk of downtime.

  • Follow-up date

The next appointment should take place in around 3 weeks – because a single retinol peeling is not enough to see a good effect.
That’s why we only sell the retinol peelings in a double pack.

Questions about retinol peeling? Our FAQ section is no substitute for a consultation, but it does provide some initial guidance.

Retinol peeling is a form of medical (chemical) peeling with the vitamin A acid preparation retinol. At our institute, we use the tried-and-tested 3% retinol peel from NEOSTRATA®, which also pampers your skin with strengthening amino acids and soothing bisabolol.
After thorough cleansing, we apply the peeling evenly to the skin. Then leave it on for 5 to 8 hours before removing it at home with the NEOSTRATA® facial cleanser.

Retinol not only has a peeling effect, but also actively intervenes in cell renewal and collagen synthesis. Retinol also has an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect. All of this together ensures visibly firmer, smoother and more even skin.

The peeling effect occurs around 2 to 4 days after peeling and subsides after around 1 week. Sometimes your skin does not peel at all. To help your skin regenerate as quickly as possible, we provide you with soothing NEOSTRATA® home care products.

A retinol peel is a medical (chemical) peel in which we work with an acidic substance. With mechanical peelings such as microdermabrasion, the peeling effect is achieved through friction. Hydrafacial, on the other hand, uses a slightly modified form: hydradermabrasion (mechanical peeling using a gentle jet of water). Among the medical peels, the retinol peel is somewhat stronger than a fruit acid peel, but weaker than a TCA peel. But beware: the strength of a peel is not the most important thing.

Depending on the skin condition and treatment goals, we recommend around 4 treatments at intervals of around 3 – 4 weeks.
