Bekannte Markennamen für Botulinum-Präparate sind Botox®, Bocouture®, Vistabel® und Dysport®, wobei deren Wirkstoffe ähnlich und miteinander vergleichbar sind. Bei GoAesthetic in Wien verwenden wir für die Faltenbehandlung das Botox der Firma Merz, ein Präparat mit dem geringsten Anteil an Fremdproteinen. Dadurch ist das Risiko für eine Antikörperbildung, die dazu führen kann, dass die Wirkung ausbleibt, deutlich geringer.

Wichtig: Das Resultat der Botox®-Behandlung bei GoAesthetic siehst du innerhalb von 2 bis 3 Tagen. Und den Maximaleffekt erkennst du nach etwa 10 Tagen, wobei die Wirkung ungefähr 4 Monate hält, je nachdem wie stark deine Falten im behandelten Areal ausgeprägt waren. Eine Faltenunterspritzung mit Botox® wirkt auch präventiv. Neue Falten können im behandelten Bereich nicht entstehen, solange der Wirkstoff aktiv ist.

Due to the high effectiveness of botulinum, Botox® is often used in combination with other types of treatment to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. We offer the following treatments at our institute in Vienna and they can also be optimally combined with Botox® treatments – sometimes, however, a time gap is required:

  • Hyaluronic acid injectionsHyaluronic acid injections lead to great results for deep wrinkles with age or incipient static wrinkles such as the nasolabial fold. A combination of Botox® and hyaluronic acid is ideal, especially for wrinkles at the corners of the mouth, a deep frown line or fine lip lines.
  • Profhilo® injectionProfhilo® injections are a unique anti-ageing treatment that floods the entire face with moisture. This means: more freshness in the face and suitable for all ages. Profhilo® is also the highest percentage on the market with 64 mg hyaluronic acid per 2 ml.

How is Botox used to treat wrinkles

Botox® works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles, resulting in complete or partial paralysis of the affected muscles. This relaxation of the muscles leads to a reduction in existing wrinkles without impairing sensitive nerve functions or sensation. The fear of looking injected is completely unfounded, as Botox only reduces muscle movement and does not add volume. In aesthetic medicine, Botox® is also used in various other medical areas and is regarded as an active ingredient that has been tried and tested millions of times worldwide with few described side effects. And over time, the body completely breaks down the active ingredient so that, in contrast to hyaluronic acid injections, no late reactions can occur months after the treatment. Important: Regular applications often extend the duration of effect of the Botox® treatment. This is why a refresher treatment usually has an improved effect if wrinkles reappear.

Important info about wrinkle treatment with Botox:

You can find out which type of Botox® treatment is right for you and the exact costs in a personal consultation with Dr. Peter Herndlhofer. We take sufficient time for our initial consultation. If you would like to have a wrinkle treatment with Botox® at our clinic in Vienna, the consultation is free of charge. However, if you can’t decide right away, we charge a consultation fee of €140. But the good news is that we will credit €50 back to you for every future treatment. And if tiny wrinkles need to be corrected in the same treatment area within 2 weeks, we will do this free of charge.

What do you have to keep in mind during treatment?

Before treatment:

  • Combination with other treatments possible (e.g.: hyaluronic acid injections, vampire lifting).

  • Blood-thinning medication should be discontinued (but please note: consult your family doctor or us beforehand).

  • We do not carry out Botox treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding – there are more important things to do at that time than individual wrinkles.

After treatment:

  • Make-up and other products can be applied shortly after the treatment.

  • No sport on the same day.

  • Avoid extreme heat such as sauna, steam bath or solarium for 7 days.

  • No massages or cosmetic treatments such as retinol or fruit acid peelings on the face for the next week.

You will see the results of wrinkle treatment with Botox® within 2-3 days – with Botox® preparations from other companies it takes between 4-7 days. You will see the maximum effect approximately 10 days after the first Botox® treatment. On average, this effect lasts for 4 months – depending on how pronounced your wrinkles were in the treated area.

Do you have light or moderately pronounced wrinkles on your forehead or around your eyes? Then we can easily smooth them out. On the other hand, if you have long-standing expression lines, you should consider a combination with other wrinkle smoothing methods, e.g. hyaluronic acid fillers. If you are unsure, we will be happy to advise you on possible combinations.

Botox is ideal for dynamic facial wrinkles. That is wrinkles that appear very early in age due to facial movements. We can effectively treat the following wrinkles with Botox®:

Botox® from Merz is not known to have any long-term undesirable side effects. The active ingredient is 100% degraded by your body after some time. Very rarely, you may experience minor swelling or a bruise after the treatment, but these will disappear again after a short time.

Through targeted injections, we can optimally treat the desired region with the appropriate amount of Botox®. This way, you keep a natural facial expression – without it looking mask-like or rigid. Of course, if you always want the maximum dose every 2-3 months, your wrinkles will be gone, but so will probably be your natural laugh! Both are possible – your choice.

If products are injected frequently, your immune system can react to the foreign proteins by producing antibodies. If we now treat your face areas with it, these neutralizing antibodies can completely cancel the effect. The result: no effect and your wrinkles remain. That is why we at GoAesthetic use the Botox with the lowest proportion of foreign proteins. This minimizes the risk that your treatment will not work.

Both hyaluronic acid and Botox can smooth wrinkles. However, this happens in completely different ways. Botox smoothes wrinkles by weakening the movement of the muscle under the skin. This prevents wrinkles from forming in the first place. On the other hand, hyaluronic acid creates additional volume under the wrinkle so that the wrinkle disappears. It is virtually balanced and the skin is leveled. Now you understand why Botox is a liquid, but hyaluronic acid is a jelly-like gel. Depending on the type, hyaluronic acid can be viscous or jelly-like like pudding. Botox can never make a face look puffy or injected – hyaluronic acid can, if you overdo it.
